Good Morning Emanuel,

For our summer staff this year, I am using Kathleen Cushman's book Fires in the Mind- What Kids can Tell Us About Motivation and Mastery.  I don't know if you have read it but it reinforce student-directed learning.  In our staff development, I am asking the staff to process through the worksheets as if they were the student; there is always the thought that when they have the "aha" they can more easily share it with others.  In correlation with this book is an interesting website "What Kids Can Do."  It if full of projects that upper grade students have developed, implemented and assessed.  We are using some of this with our sixth graders - motified of course.

Just thought I would pass this one.

Jeane

to meet with state legislators and leaders to advance learning and policy around afterschool and expanded learning in Vermont. This is also a day to celebrate the important role that youth workers, afterschool providers, and program staff play in helping to build a strong foundation for the children and youth of Vermont. Come celebrate with us!
