Message from the Campaign to End Childhood Hunger

Sustainable Funding Source: Over 29,000 children in Vermont rely on free and reduced price school meals.  When schools close for the evening, many of these children go home to empty kitchen cupboards.  Afterschool program directors who address hunger know that food costs can be burdensome.  Fortunately, there are federal nutrition programs that reimburse the cost of nutritious meals and snacks served to children.  The Vermont Campaign to End Childhood Hunger will be hosting a workshop titled Add More Flavor to Your Afterschool Program and Get Paid to Do It at the Afterschool Conference on Friday, October 23rd.  This workshop will explain how federal nutrition programs can benefit the children in your community and serve as a sustainable source of funding for your afterschool program.
