Welcome to the Afterschool Wiki!
The recent shooting tragedy should give us pause to make sure everything is being done during afterschool and summer hours in schools with regard to evacuation and training. It may not be enough to mimic the school policies. Indeed, the one shooting incident in Essex, Vermont in 2006 took place during non-school hours. This area is covered in site visit process. But, we should reevaluate what our standards and protocols should be in this area for all sites.
Feel free to weigh in as you discuss this locally and as we consider what improvements should be implemented: Weigh in on this important topic-

This is also a day to celebrate the important role that youth workers, afterschool providers, and program staff play in helping to build a strong foundation for the children and youth of Vermont. Come celebrate with us!
