School Grants for Healthy Kids
Deadline: April 19, 2013
Action for Healthy Kids (AFHK) released its School Grants for Healthy Kids opportunities for the 2013-2014 school year. About 400 schools will be awarded grants from $1,000 to $5,000 with significant in-kind contributions from AFHK. AFHK will also provide schools with management expertise and support to develop strong alternative and universal breakfast or physical activity programs. To learn more and apply, click here.
Active Schools Accelerations Project Grants
Deadline: April 22, 2013
Active Schools Acceleration Project (ASAP) is one component of the Let’s Move Active Schools program which is designed to mobilize school champions who are ready and willing to be leaders for their school community. Participating schools will have access to free tools and resources, ranging from in-person trainings, to program activation grants to direct, personal assistance from certified professionals. Federal Farm to School Grants
Deadline: April 24, 2013
USDA anticipates awarding up to $5 million in grant funding to support efforts that improve access to local foods in eligible schools. To learn more and apply, clickhere.
Presidential Youth Fitness Program Grants
Deadline: April 30, 2013
Grants to participate in the Presidential Youth Fitness Program for the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 (two years of participation) will be available April 1st. Funding covers 100% of the three program pillars; assessment, professional development, and recognition for Year 1 (2013–2014) and 50% for Year 2 (2014–2015). To learn more, click here.
ING Run for Something Better Grant
Deadline: May 15, 2013
With the goal of empowering school age children to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle, ING, in partnership with the National Association for Sport and Physical Education, has developed a school-based running program. Fuel Up to Play 60 Grant Opportunity
Deadline: June 4, 2013
Up to $4,000 for 2013-14 school year is available to any qualifying K-12 school enrolled in Fuel Up to Play 60. Funds can be used to help jumpstart and sustain healthy nutrition and physical activity improvements. The Fuel Up to Play 60 Playbook (click here) provides dozens of possible action strategies.
